Go Get ‘em Maddie

One thing that I love about Maddie is that she wants to be involved in everything!  I never have to say, “Maddie, maybe you should try that…”  She loves to participate in anything she can get involved in. At her age that isn’t much but whenever an opportunity presents itself, Maddie jumps right in.
In May, our Elementary school held an election for Student Senate.  Maddie decided she wanted to run for President (for the following school year).  We are new to this school as this had been our first year here so while Maddie had made lots of friends and was well known, being elected president was certainly going to be difficult.  Maddie didn’t care, and didn’t have high expectations but wanted to try.  She gave a speech in front of all the 4,5, and 6th graders and we made posters.  When all was said and done, Maddie didn’t win the election.

Maddie did have the opportunity to try out for the Spirit team.  Every month the school has a spirit assembly which is like a pep rally and there are a group of 5th and 6th graders that get up on the stage and get the kids excited and run the assembly.  She tried out with her best friend Sabrina and were judged by the High School cheerleaders.  She was so excited when she found out she’d made the team.  Unfortunately her friend did not.

Also this Spring our City held a multi-district track meet at Chaffey College.  Maddie did the track meet last year and was anxious to join again.  She ran the 200 meters and the 400 meter relay.  She did great and we are so proud of our little go-getter!
