Sleeeping Beauty

I had to post this picture of Sawyer sleeping. A couple of weeks ago we put him down for his nap after church, when I sneaked in the room to check on him I couldn't resist taking a picture of my sleeping angel. He looks so peaceful and precious, I wanted to remember it forever!

An Afternoon at Disneyland

Every Wednesday Maddie has Minimum day at school and gets out at 1:00. So yesterday we decided to go to Disneyland with some friends. We thought since most of the spring breaks were over it wouldn't be too crowded. We had a great time and got on a lot of rides in a short amount of time. I am getting more used to taking the kids to Disneyland without any help. My friend had 2 kids of her own as well! I was so proud of myself because I didn't spend a dime at Disneyland yesterday! I made sure to pack some snacks and we grabbed dinner at a drive thru on the way home. Here are some fun pictures of our day!

Carter and Sawyer on Casey Jr. Sawyer was very excited and kept saying "Choo Choo"!

Sawyer loves the Carousel

Sibling Rivalry

We hadn't been on the Jungle cruise in a long time. The kids really enjoyed it and thought our guide was really funny. Sawyer especially loved the animals and got so excited to see them. I am sure he thought they were real.

After getting off of Pirates of the Caribbean we saw some pirates that were really in character. The kids wanted to take a picture with them and they asked for some rum or gold in exchange!

A Pirate Party!

Carter's birthday party was on Saturday. He was so excited to finally have his party and open his presents. We had his party almost 2 weeks after his birthday because Grammy and Grampy were out of town and he really wanted them to be there, plus we had to have Grammy make one of her beautiful cakes. Carter has been very excited about pirates lately and wanted to have a pirate birthday. He saw a picture of a cake shaped like a pirate hat and was sold! He was so excited to tell Grammy all about it. He kept telling her, "first you have to put the chocolate frosting and then you add the white and make little swirls in the corners...." He went on to tell her every detail about how to make the cake. He even got to go to the store with her to buy the cake mix. After seeing the little pictures on the box he told her, "First you have to mix the eggs and then the water..." Grammy got a kick out of it.

Here are some fun pictures of the party. I had fun decorating and Carter loved his big pirate balloon (which Maddie popped the very next morning- on purpose!)

All the family was there and Carter got to invite one friend, Caleb from Church and preschool. We played musical chairs and did a pinata.

The food of choice: Pizza!

All the kids wore pirate fabric around their heads. Maddie made me buy the pink one which was pretty cute.

Carter was a little mad that he didn't get to hit the pinata more so Daddy let him hit it around some more after the candy had all fallen out.

Carter doing his "ARRR Matey"

Here is Carter's pirate hat cake that Grammy made. (The left eye got smudged by Carter before I took the picture.) He was so excited and made sure that there were coins around it, like in the picture in the magazine.

Carter was very excited about this transformer that he got. Needless to say, only Mommy can transform it!

Sawyer got in on the action too, especially eating the candy!

Slip and Slide and a Bike Ride

Well it really heated up this weekend in California! I think it may have reached 100 yesterday! On Friday it was pretty warm as well so when Maddie got home from school I got out the slip and slide and the kids had a blast. Here are some fun pictures I snapped...

The kids liked the splash pool at the end of the slide

Sawyer cracked me up the way he would run with his hands behind his back like he was about to take off. Notice he is running the opposite way!

There's that million dollar smile that makes me melt!

Maddie was the only one bold enough to slide on her tummy! The other two just ran through and slipped on their bottoms accidentally sometimes.

Yesterday (Saturday) Chris put together a bike he bought for Maddie several months ago. He found a super good deal on it and couldn't pass it up. It is a "stingray" bike that kind of looks like a motorcycle. It is definitely girly cause it is pink and purple. She really likes it a lot and it is pretty unique. Once it was all put together she and Carter rode around on their bikes for a while and had lots of fun. We have a nice bike trail just finished near our house so I am sure we'll go on some fun bike rides.

Maddie strikes a pose on her new "stingray"

Carter loves his "hot wheels" bike, it's getting a little small for him though!

Cotton Candy Monster

While we were at Disneyland we let Carter get Cotton Candy since it was his birthday. I took a video of him eating it since he was devouring it.

Carter's Disneyland Birthday

Carter's official birthday was yesterday. We aren't having his party until the 19th because of family being out of town. We wanted to make his birthday very special since he is 4 now! So Chris took the day off and we all went to Disneyland. Carter was so excited and felt so special. When he woke up early in the morning he climbed in bed with us and said, "Mommy, it's my birthday!" It is so hard to believe that my baby is 4! He is so grown up now I can't believe it. It kinda makes me sad in a way but then Sawyer is still little.

We had a great time at Disneyland. It was pretty crowded due to Spring breaks in the area. We went to California adventure first and then Disneyland. Carter got to pick every ride and when he was done he said, "Let's go home now!" I think he was pretty tired. He still gets very tired in the late afternoon. Carter and Maddie were both very excited to go on the Teacups because they hadn't been for a while since Mommy won't ride them, and Daddy hadn't been to Disneyland with us since November.

One of the highlights of this visit was Carter got an Autograph book, which we have never been into but the kids just love it. Maddie already has one but only had one autograph. Even though it was so crowded we still saw lots of characters! Here are some pictures that we took with them...

The kids got a kick out of Cruella De Ville, she was really mean!

Minnie is an all time favorite! Carter couldn't keep his eyes open in the sun

The kids love Max from the Goofy Movies

Sawyer was a little nervous around pluto but he was fascinated

Here are some more fun pictures of our time at Disneyland, I am still having fun experimenting with my new camera, so there were too many cute ones!

Santa Maria Childrens Museum

So while we were up in the Central Coast area we took the kids the the Santa Maria Children's Museum. If you didn't already know this, I love children's museums. We don't have one near our home so whenever we travel I love to take my kids to them. I think they are so much fun! Here are some pictures of the kids having fun!

Avila Valley Barn

It was a little chilly to go to the Beach while we were there so instead on Saturday we went to Avila Barn. It was the first time I had been there and I loved it. The kids really enjoyed looking at all the different animals. Sawyer especially loved the animals, he even wanted to feed them. He loves animals so much! They had all kinds of fruit and vegetables for sale. They also have homemade icecream! What a fun place! Here are some pictures:

Downtown San Luis Obispo

Here are some more pictures we took in San Luis Obispo. Our hotel was located at the North end of the town and you can ride a trolley to the downtown area. The kids loved riding the trolley and standing at the back of it, waving at all the cars that drive by!

One of our favorite places to eat up there is called "Firestone Grill" it is located in Downtown San Luis Obispo. It was converted from an old Firestone tire shop. They have the best Tri-tip sandwiches ever!

Across the street from our hotel was a Veterans Memorial Museum. They have a huge Tank in front of it which Carter loves. We love taking pictures with it! Carter says he wants to be in the Army someday, I don't know how I feel about that!

A day at the Park in San Luis Obispo

We have been so busy lately! After just getting back from our trip to Utah and celebrating Easter, we went up to San Luis Obispo with Chris because he had to work up there. We love how beautiful it is up there and since Maddie was on Spring break we decided to go with Daddy.

While we were up there we replaced my old camera that broke, so I had a lot of fun taking some fun pictures at the park. Here are a few of them. I love this park, you have to cross a little stream on a bridge to get to the playground. It is so pretty and the kids really enjoyed tossing rocks in the stream.
