Summer Basketball

Carter’s sport of choice is Basketball so when we found out there was a Summer league through our city we signed him up.  He had played in the Winter league earlier this year and loved it.  This time he was on the Lakers which was pretty exciting. He can’t wait until Basketball season starts up again in December.  Here are a few highlights.

At the end of the season we had a pizza party at Shakey’s where the boys got their trophies.

Please rise for the National Anthem…

Maddie had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem for Mormon night at our local minor league baseball stadium on August 27.  Having a grandma with connections helps.  Grandma is on the Church Media Relations board for our stake and helped make arrangements for the quakes game.  She highly recommended Maddie and all she had to do was go down and sing for them and she was all set.

When the big day arrived, I was nervous for her but she was just so excited.  It was extremely HOT that day but luckily it was cool by the time the game started.  There were lots of our friends from our ward there and Wes and Kristy and also Grandma Faye, Kelli and her kids.  Of course Grandma and Grandpa were there too!

Here is Maddie on the field waiting to sing.

And singing her heart out….

Here is the video of her singing….

After she sang we went up to the stands to sit with our family and ward.  Everyone cheered when they saw her and she felt so good.  We were so proud of her and are simply amazed at her ability to sing and not even get nervous!

After the game as we walked out Libby kept saying “Good Job Maddie”.  That night after we put them to bed Maddie came out of their room and said, “Mom, I can’t go to sleep, Libby won’t stop saying “Good Job, Maddie”.  So Adorable!

Sawyer’s First Day

Sawyer started Preschool on August 16th.  He was excited but a little bit nervous.  Even though he has the same teacher as last year he still was a bit shy at first.  He was all ready in his new clothes.

Its so cute, Libby gets sad and whines after we drop Sawyer off.  He is her pal and she loves him!  He caters to her every whim!

While the teacher was talking to the parents, Libby made herself right at home and pulled up a chair.

Sawyer giving me the “Mom… stop taking pictures of me” face.

He warmed right up and was very happy when I picked him up that afternoon.  We went and got Slurpees to celebrate the special occasion.

While the kids are away Sawyer will Play!

The kids started school on a Monday and Sawyer’s preschool didn’t start til the following week.  He was very lucky to have a fun filled week and enjoyed having the older kids in school.

On Monday Grampy called up and wanted to take him to Chuck E. Cheese with the Herrera cousins (who were still here for 2 more weeks)  So after the kids went to their first day of school he had a fun filled day with the cousins.

On Tuesday we went to Disneyland.  We no longer have annual passes but I can still do mystery shops.  I only get two tickets when I do mystery shops so I purposely scheduled it after the kids went back to school so I could go alone with Sawyer and Libby.  It was a very quick trip and since we had to be back to get the kids from school we only had time for a few rides.

We had lunch at CafĂ© Orleans and I was a little underwhelmed by the Monte Christo Sandwich.  I had remembered it being so yummy but I was mostly grossed out by the amount of fried batter it had.  Libby enjoyed making a mess with her spaghetti.

Libby got to go on the Monsters Inc. ride.  She is in love with that movie and was very excited to get to go on the ride and see it come to life.  She cried when we had to get off.

On Wednesday that week Sawyer was so lucky to get to go the beach with his Herrera cousins.  I couldn’t believe that my dad wanted to take 4 kids ALONE all the way to Newport beach.  He was a trooper and Sawyer was very glad to get to go.

On Friday that week, we met our friends and neighbors, the Garcia’s, at the mall and played in the fountain.  Dylan is Sawyer’s best friend and they have so much fun together.  We are so excited because he will be in Kindergarten at the same school as Sawyer!
