Awards Assembly

Carter and Maddie both did very well this past trimester at school.  Carter got the Scholastic Achievement Award and a Writing and Reading award.  Maddie got Honor roll, Reading and Math.  I am so grateful my kids love school and work hard to get good grades!  Way to go Maddie and Carter!

School Open House and Choral Performance

This school year is going by so fast!  The kids had their open house this past week and we had a great time looking inside their classrooms and watching their choral performances.  It was a little hectic getting to each of their classrooms and their performances in time since they overlapped by 15 minutes but we made it!

Libby enjoyed toddling around Carter’s classroom and sitting in his chair.  Carter and Maddie both were very proud to show us their work and the fun things they had done in their classrooms this year.  I didn’t get any pictures in Maddie’s classroom because it was wall to wall people (her class has 35 students, Carter’s has 20), when you get all the parents in there it is a little crazy.

Every year each grade puts on a choral performance that they have been working on all year with their chorus teacher Mr. Mann.  In the 4th-6th grades a few students get picked to do a solo part during the show.  Maddie was very excited to get picked and had really been looking forward to it for several years.  She did an excellent job and got a pretty big part.  Chris and I looked at each other after her performance in awe!  We couldn’t believe how grown up and mature Maddie’s voice has gotten.  We couldn’t be more proud of her!  I wish I had caught it on video but the teacher said, “All I can say is WOW!” after she finished singing.

Silly Sawyer

Sawyer is definitely our silly one!  He gets in a silly mood even when we want to be serious.  The other day he put on his Halloween costume from when he was an infant.  I can’t believe he could get it on all the way and zipped up!

Sawyer’s Field Trip

Last week Sawyer’s Preschool class went to Heritage Park in La Verne to learn about oranges.  I was pretty sad because I had to work that day and I didn’t want him to miss out on such a fun field trip.  Luckily Chris was able to call in sick to work and take him.  He was such a good Daddy, he even took the camera with him and took some cute pictures.  DSC04212

Then he got to plant a pansy inside the orange.

What a fun day with Daddy!  I love that Chris enjoyed going on field trips with the kids.  They love it and feel so special!

Carter hoops it up on the court

Carter played Youth Basketball through our city. He just finished his season and had an awesome time.  We had no idea how much he would love basketball.  He was actually very aggressive and we were surprised at how good he was!  He now eats, sleeps and drinks basketball and can’t wait to play again in July when another season begins!  He wants a basketball hoop for his birthday.

February Fun

February came and went. Here are some fun things we did in February…

When I schedule mystery shops in the winter I run the risk of having it rain on the day we go to Disneyland. I absolutely must fulfill my obligation even in the rain. We actually got pretty lucky on our last trip to Disneyland. We went in the afternoon and it had rained hard that morning, so there were very few people there and we had a blast! We went on Toy Story Mania (our all time favorite ride) 3 times in a row! There was only a 5-10 minute wait each time! We only got sprinkled on one time and we had a wonderful time. Libby enjoyed meeting Libby and kept saying “Minnie” when she saw her. It was darling and Minnie was flattered!

We also went to Disneyland in the beginning of the month for a quick trip with cousins Brady, Coleman, Aunt Kristy and Grammy. We had a yummy breakfast at the hotel and went on a few rides and called it a day!

The kids enjoyed Valentines day festivities at school. Maddie had a fun Valentine this year that I saw online. Sawyer enjoyed his first time getting Valentines from his classmates and had fun looking through them all when he got home.

Maddie finished the dreaded California Mission project. She had a 6 page (typed) report and a Mission model due only 1 week after we got back from Hawaii. I ended up really helping her with it! The model was fun until I figured out that spray paint melts Styrofoam. Don’t look too close there were some holes in the mission! Oh well, she still got an A!

Maddie and Carter were excited to open their first bank account after they’d been begging for months. I am excited they want to learn to save!

Soccer Season 2010

I have had the kids soccer pictures on my desk for months now meaning to scan them.  I looked back at all of my posts and I never did a soccer post!  Shame on me!  It’s hard to believe since it takes up so much of our time.  We had a great Soccer season this past year.  Carter and Maddie both played again, moving up a division each so it was fun to see it get more competitive.  Maddie was in U-10 and Carter U-8.  He was a bit smaller than most the kids on his team which he didn’t like.  He’s looking forward to next Soccer season when he’ll be one of the older ones.  Here are some pictures…

Maddie had the most amazing coaches.  They were both named Mark and they were so dedicated and they built her up so much that she had so much confidence out on the field.  We noticed a huge improvement!  She was so aggressive and had so much fun this year.  She played the destroyer and she loved it!

Carter had a fun season and learned a lot of new skills from his teammates.  His coach was nice but a bit flakey.  Lets just say I showed up to practice and no one was there more than 2 times.

We had a great season with 4 practices a week (Monday through Thursday) and 2 games every Saturday.  We can’t wait to do it again this Fall!  This time Sawyer joins in on the fun!  If Maddie decides to keep playing we will have 3 kids in Soccer!
