I can’t believe its March and I’m blogging about Thanksgiving. That is how far behind I am. I’ve put my blog on the back burner long enough and I’ve got to catch up.
Thanksgiving was pretty low key this year and I loved it! We didn’t go out of town which was nice and we simply enjoyed each others company. The kids had all week off and at this point I can’t remember what we did earlier that week but I’m sure it was fun! Kristy volunteered to do Thanksgiving at her house this year. I offered to do the Turkey since I really wanted to try brining a Turkey. Last year was my first experience cooking a turkey and I really enjoyed it so I thought I’d try it again and try something new. I brined the turkey in a giant plastic tub in my fridge for over 24 hours. The brine smelled so good, I couldn’t wait to taste it. Unfortunately I got an awful sinus infection and spent the evening before Thanksgiving at a last minute Dr. appt. So due to my infection everything started smelling awful.
We went down to Wes and Kristy’s house the next day to cook our feast. It was so much fun spending the day cooking and watching the kids play together while the men watched football. Kristy did such an amazing job making everything look adorable!

When it was time to carve the Turkey we decided Dr. Chris should do it since he has the most experience cutting flesh!

Nice face Chris!

Maddie helped get everything ready and keep Libby contained while we prepared dinner.

A feast it was! The food was delicious, the Turkey was good but I’m not sure it lived up to the hype I thought it would.

As we sat down to dinner Wes and Kristy announced that they were having a baby which was wonderful news! We have since found out that they will be having a girl in July. We are so excited and can't wait to cuddle with her!
We had planned on going to see the Muppets movie after dinner but we had a little accident. Our little dare devil Sawyer collided while riding a scooter on the street outside. Chris warned me against bringing the kids scooters he was worried something like that would happen. Note to self: Listen to husband.
He had 2 big gashes in his chin and we decided we’d better get them stitched since they looked deep. We called around and couldn’t find an Urgent Care open so we decided to head home and take him to the ER. Luckily it was a quick ER visit and we were in and out in literally 30 minutes.

Later that night around 10 pm my dad came over to watch the kids so Chris and I could go Black Friday Shopping. Chris had never been before and I really needed his help with some of the items so I roped him into coming. We went to Wal-Mart and lets just say I think that is Chris’ last first and last time going black Friday shopping, he hated it! It was quite an adventure but the best part was we got everything we wanted and got to sleep in the next day.
On Friday evening we got out all the Christmas décor and had fun getting the house all gussied up for Christmas. My favorite time of the year!

The kids voted that Libby should get to put the star on this year, a highly coveted honor in our home. As usual the everyone went to bed and I was left with finishing the decorating and cleaning up. I think I got to bed around 3 or 4 am.

All in all it was a great Thanksgiving weekend. We went to see the Muppets on Saturday with Chris and Amanda, which completed our great holiday weekend.
